Basketball Barn
in a Zionsville cornfield
Private facility with an amazing history
Currently the Zionsville BZA ruled no public access allowed.
The surrounding neighbors complained to the Zionsville Zoning Board that the Zbarn was creating a "youth hangout" in their neighborhood.
Accusations of:
To date there has not been a single Police activity or accident around the Zbarn or Route 100N.
Following the Zionsville BZA request the Peerman family followed their guidance and applied tor a Commercial Variance to allow limited private training at the Zbarn. At the hearing the BZA board members focused on the Zbarn having no ordinance related "Hardship" and therefore denied the variance.
It is an absolute shame this beautiful facility is no longer able to allow the Zionsville youth or anyone outside of friends and family to enjoy basketball activities at the Zbarn.
-> Trust us the neighbors watch the facility 24/7 harassing, taking pictures and reporting whenever more than 4 cars are on the property. Regardless if anyone actually goes in the Zbarn.
The Roberts family built the barn in 2005. Ed Schilling came in and worked with the Roberts training athletes from all age groups to NBA in the barn. It was a safe fun place to practice and train. Ed was instrumental in transitioning the floor from a sport court to hardwood which came out of the 2002 FIBA world games held in Indianapolis. Some of the initial athletes included: Greg Oden, Mike Conley Jr., Yogi Ferrell and many others.
Throughout the years it has developed into the mystical Zionsville barn in the cornfield where children to adults have traveled to play basketball and seeking training from the best trainers the Midwest have: Ed Schilling, Rob Blackwell, Joey Burton, LaSalle Thompson, Zionsville dedicated parents and others.
The Zbarn had been the training home, memories and fulfilled dreams for numerous athletes.
Notable players whom lives were impacted and dreams accomplished in part from having access to the barn: Greg Oden, Yogi Ferrell, Carsen Edwards, Jarrel Brantley, Kelan Martin, Jae-sean Tate, Ty Harris, Ally Beck, Gordon Hayward, Glenn Robinson III, Julian Mavunga, Shayne Whittington, Stephanie Mavunga, Katie Burton, Jermaine O’neal, Austin Burgett, Paul Jorgensen, Sean McDermott, Joe Lawson III, Greg Foster, Shaq McKissic, Darius Leonard, Eric Hunter Jr., Trevion Williams, Aaron Wheeler, Isaiah Thompson, Joey Brunk, Aaron Henry, Kevin Easley Jr, Kobe Webster and others
